The problem is the frame, not another character
You have a non-explicit portrait of an original fictional adult botanist. The face and greenhouse setting work, but a wide cover needs additional surroundings. Cropping the vertical picture to fill that cover would cut away too much of the subject.
That is a different task from inventing the portrait again. The useful comparison is whether the service helps you choose a fresh vertical preset or deliberately extend an existing frame.
IGENFUN’s homepage describes a preset feed, a Generate action and vertical photos. It advertises separate Edit and Video routes for an output already in the feed. It does not establish a named aspect-ratio or background-expansion control in the public material reviewed here.
If a phone-shaped portrait is the desired asset, that advertised orientation may fit immediately. If the deliverable is a wide cover, changing the preset repeatedly does not itself document how to obtain the missing horizontal space.
There is also a source conflict: IGENFUN’s linked full Terms of Service describe generation from text prompts and say photo upload for generation is not supported. That does not match the homepage’s no-prompt positioning. Treat the preset route here as a homepage proposition, not a verified complete account workflow. The difference also prevents assuming an external image can be uploaded there for expansion.
Firefly gives expansion an explicit workflow
Adobe’s Expand instructions describe these actions:
- Open Image → Expand background, or select Expand from the Edit tab of a generated image.
- Upload an authorized image from the device or cloud if it is not already a Firefly generation.
- Choose a frame such as 16:9 or 4:3, or use Freeform and drag the boundaries.
- Describe the new surroundings, or leave the prompt blank to let Firefly infer them.
- Check the credit-consumption indicator, then select Expand.
For the botanist, the added area could continue the greenhouse benches and pale glass walls. The task is to create space around the existing subject, rather than ask for another face. Inspect the new edges, repeated objects and any changed details before accepting the result.
These are documented actions, not a completed edit. Adobe says credit consumption varies by model and can be inspected beside Expand; a fixed credit cost should not be invented for this example.
Expansion and cropping solve different problems
| Situation | Practical next action |
|---|---|
| Vertical portrait is already the final format | Keep that frame; another generation may be unnecessary |
| A small outer edge can be lost safely | A crop may be sufficient |
| A wider cover would cut into the subject | Consider expansion to add surroundings |
| The face, role or whole concept is wrong | Rewrite the concept or generate a different starting image |
Expansion does not create a text layout. Add the title as editable text in a design tool rather than depend on image generation to spell it correctly.
Permission must come before an upload
This is not a verified IGENFUN-to-Firefly integration. IGENFUN’s shorter terms route and its linked full terms present different descriptions of the service. The full version disclaims ownership of generated content but imposes input/content restrictions; it does not establish an export integration or clear third-party rights in an image. Use an original or otherwise appropriately authorized asset for the expansion exercise.
The two tools also have different content rules. This comparison concerns a permitted, non-explicit fictional portrait; it is not a route for moving disallowed material between providers.
Choose IGENFUN’s preset proposition when selecting a new vertical visual direction is the work. Choose Firefly’s documented expansion controls when the problem is a usable existing frame that needs more surroundings. Neither source proves perfect identity preservation or a measured completion speed.
